When your story doesn’t
go as planned.
Emmie’s Books are here to help.
Emmie’s Books provides children’s books for
little warriors in hospital and their families.
Our story
Our daughter Emmie was diagnosed with a Malignant Rhabdoid Tumour in September 2019. MRT is an extremely rare and aggressive form of cancer, which is difficult to treat and she was given a poor prognosis.
Emmie underwent 8 rounds of chemotherapy, a radical nephrectomy, stem cell harvest and aspiration, high dose chemotherapy, 8 days on a ventilator in PICU and a further 12 months of maintenance chemotherapy. However she is now in remission and loves singing, dancing, reading and playing with her big brother and baby sister.
'Emmie's Books' raises money to buy books for little warriors in hospitals across the UK - and their families. As teachers, we know the importance of escapism through books, as well as the importance of keeping our minds busy as oncology parents.
Our work so far
We’re proud to have donated over 1,000 books to Great Ormond Street Hospital and other hospitals across the UK.
Since we began in 2021, Emmie’s Books has donated more than 1,000 books to hospitals and individual children, fighting cancer and other serious illnesses. We are currently working with (but not limited to) Principal Treatment Centres and Paediatric Oncology Shared Care Units (POSCU) in London. We have raised funds through crowdfunding, competitions and second-hand book sales.
We are also proud to support the wonderful work of the Max the Brave Fund, by supplying books for their birthday packages.

Go Gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Help raise funds to support vital work and raise awareness of childhood cancer. Every day, more than 12 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer in the UK. Only around 2% of cancer research funding in the UK is spent on research that is fully dedicated to childhood and young adult cancer.
